Everything Must Change: Jesus, Global Crises, and a Revolution of Hope (Critical Concerns Course), Monday, Febuary 9, 6:00pm-9:00pm and Tuesday, February 10, 8:30am-11:30am

Christian Faith as Way of Life
Christianity has tended to present itself as a system of belief or as an institution of society. What would it mean to rediscover the way of Jesus as a way of life - radical, daily, contemplative, active, and communal? How would this way of life be learned through practices? What role would ancient practices have in this way of life? What would the church look like if it formed itself around this mission of spiritual formation for global transformation?

The Political Gospels: Religious right, religious left or politically AWOL?
How do we put faith and politics together in an honest and helpful way? What paths should we explore in the aftermath of the Religious Right, Civil Religion, and Spiritual Isolationism? Is the gospel liberal or conservative or both or neither? How can we talk about political matters in a civil - and Christian - way?

Being Faithful in a Pluralist World
How can followers of Jesus find freshly faithful ways to engage with Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, atheists, and others who do not want to accept Christianity? Are the alternatives beyond ignore, persecute, exclude, fear, and badger?

Jesus and Empire Panel Discussion, Wednesday, February 11, 1:30pm-3:00pm
Including Shane Claiborne, Don Golden, Scot McKnight, and Efrem Smith

A popular and witty speaker, Dr. McKnight is the author of more than twenty books. McKnight’s award-winning blog, Jesus Creed, has been rated by Technorati.com as the #1 site for Emerging Church.

Don't miss your chance to hear Scot at the National Pastor's Convention in February. Choose from his two seminars and his two panel discussions:

Spiritual Disciplines: Instrument for Spirituality?
The turn to spiritual disciplines, especially fasting, is distorting what spiritual disciplines are designed to accomplish. By examining what the Bible says about fasting, we aim to show that when we focus on what we can get from fasting we distort the discipline. Instead of seeing fasting as an instrument to grow in spirituality, we will examine how fasting is primarily a response to severe conditions.

Women in Ministry: A Case Study in Rethinking How We Read the Bible
This seminar will develop a principle called WDWD. Instead of focusing on the silence passages, we will focus on mapping what women did do in the Bible and challenge the church to let women do what God has called them to do. This seminar will show how understanding the Story of the Bible illuminates how we understand women in ministry.

Jesus and Empire Panel Discussion, Wednesday, February 11, 1:30pm-3:00pm

Meet Gabe Lyons!

Gabe Lyons founded Fermi Project in 2003, a broad collective of innovators, social entrepreneurs, church and societal leaders working together to make positive contributions to culture. Gabe recently engineered Fermi Project's first book, unChristian, which revealed exclusive research on pop-culture's negative perception of Christians and convened influential Christian voices to address what he describes as "the steady erosion of Christianity's reputation in America". Gabe, Rebekah, and their three children reside in Atlanta, Georgia.

Don't miss your chance to hear Gabe speak at the National Pastor's Convention. He will be speaking at General Session 2 on Tuesday, February 10 from 7:30-9:30pm (interview). He also has a two seminars and a panel discussion:

unChristian: What a New Generation Thinks About Christianity... and Why It Matters (Critical Concerns Course) Monday, February 9, 6:00pm-9:00pm and Tuesday, February 10, 8:30am-11:30am

Post-Christian Faithfulness
In this seminar we will describe specific ways Christians and the local church can thrive in a pluralistic, post-Christian setting. We will uncover how Christianity lost its influence in culture over the last century leading to an ever-increasing unChristian context. And describe the unique and timely opportunity the Church has to redefine this new era by recovering its historic roots. We will also explore the future context in which the Gospel must go forward and talk specifically about the implications of evangelism and faithful living in a Post-Christian, postmodern, westernized culture.

Engaging Culture in a Postmodern World Panel Discussion, Wednesday, February 11, 1:30pm-3:00pm  Including John Burke, Andy Crouch, and Cathleen Falsani

Meet Ashmont Hill!

Ashmont Hill is an idyllic community in Boston from which a large, loving family was birthed into musical tradition. The Thompson family has made beautiful, spiritual music for years in the church in which their father is Pastor. Phil Thompson, sisters April Joy Thompson and Deborah Bullock, along with Deborah’s husband, Wil Bullock, heard the call from the Lord to bring their music to a larger community, and have set out, as in Psalm 69:30 to “…praise God’s name in song and glorify Him with thanksgiving.”
