I have a quick and easy solution to this vexing problem: you is singular or plural, but when it's important to express the plural: "ya'll".

I'm not kidding - it works great!

Scott S - I agree that using "y'all" does indeed get the point across that one is referring to a group, and not just 1 person. I love using that word! :)
